Visit To Victoria Memorial

After years i went to Victoria Memorial, all courtesy my son. We had infact gone there for the buggy ride, and after finishing that my wife suggested we go to Victoria Memorial. Sitting on the lawns of Victoria felt nice as the weather was also nice and breezy. We sat there for a while and saw a big grooup of family friends and kids having a good time playing dumb charades.
I have to admit the visit inside was better than i had expected, the reason being that some time back i had also gone to the Zoo and after seeing the bad state that the Zoo was in i thought maybe Victoria would have also sufered a similiar fate. But as i mentioned i was pleasantly surprised by the upkeep.The visit also bought back childhood memories of my visits to Victoria with family and friends.
I guess my son is making me relive my childhood.
I would certainly advice friend with kids to visit Victoria, and even i have decided i shall be going back there again very soon.

Oh ''Kolkata''

Yesterday while walking down Rawdon Street at 7.30 in the evening, i noticed a sizeable crowd gathered outside Cakes. I also noticed a good contingent of Police staff and in going closer and enquiring i found out that the Cafe Coffee Day outlet on rawdon street had caught fire. Its strange how things come more into your face when you have just seen a major tragedy unfold, like the one on Park Street on the 24th. And on the 25th we had read in the papers that there was a small fire in Forum.
I just hope that Kolkata gets over this, and i pray to God to give strength to the people who lost their near and dear ones in the fire in Stephen Court.

Navroz Mubarak

Navroz Mubarak to all my friends, for those who do not understand. Navroz is New Year for us. This day is celebrated every year on the 21st of March .You will also find Parsis celebrating this day as Navroz. I hope and pray to God that all of you have a healthy and prosperous year ahead..

Pilgrimage

I am not a very religious person as most of you would know, so why the heading "pilgrimage"..well thats exactly what i did, a pilgrimage to Gyan Manch on Saturday the 20th of March.
It all starts from the year 96, when my parents got me my first SLR camera. It was a Canon rebel X autofocus SLR. Something unheard of among amatuers like us then.
And the next 4 years were spent giving a lot of time to my photography, first by learning it from my Guru Atanuda and then by the numerous trips made to the rural areas of bengal to do photography. In the year 97 i also had my first photgraphy exhibition at academy of fine arts. The one person whose photographs were always looked at with admiration and whom i really dreamt of meeting some day was the great Raghu Rai...never had thought i would ever get a chance.
But thanks to my friend Mansi i got invites to a workshop by the great Raghu Rai. And the workshop was nothing less than a pilgrimage to me, just looking at his work and the kind of thought process that goes into his pictures was something Mortals like us cant even think of.
His funda in photography is simple he says put you 'Mind, Soul and Your physical being all focussed at what you are doing" .
A lot of myths and thoughts that used to confuse me are clear now.
The sad part of the whole thing is that i dont have the SLR camera now, but after this workshop i am inspired to buy one again and make photgraphy an integral part of me like it was earlier.

Zohaib's Birthday

Hi Friends we celebrated Zohaib's 2nd birthday on the 18th of march.
And the Lucky birthday boy had 2 parties for the same 1 for his school friends in school and the other one at Mc donalds.
I am attaching a few pictures of both the parties do enjoy.

I have thought of taking my blog more seriously, and i shall make a sincere effort to keep you all updated with happenings around me...

Zohaib's first day at play school.

Hi everybody...finally i have come out of my hibernation...well the event was such that i had to share it with all of you..it was Zohaib's first day at play school.
And boy did he have a great time...he didnt want to come back, and we had literally drag him back from school.
I dont recall my first day being so good.my mom tells me that i had cried the first day i had gone to nursery.
